The best sound in the world!

Wish I had the technical ability to turn this into a ringtone... Joel has always said one of his favorite sounds is the little giggles of his girls...

And somehow in there I got her to sign a few things, but my camera doesn't take good videos! She signs WHERE, a modified DADDY, DOWN (it's blurry!), and PLEASE! She signs all the time, but freezes when the camera's on!

Anybody able to help with the ringtone? :)

Adventure World playground

Before we moved to NRH I found this park on the map pretty close to our house but the name made me think of amusement park, batting cages, or a sports park. Turns out it's just a really nice widespread playground with lots of different areas and activities for the different ages! Lots of swings and slides and too bad we didn't find it in the summer because it has great trees for shade. This might be our outing of choice on pretty weather days! So we headed over there Thursday morning for some playtime in the sunshine and a picnic lunch, just in time too because it got COLD here Thursday afternoon!

Adelyn will climb just about anything!

so similar, yet so different...

And then all she wants to do is play with the rocks?

PSE...

stands for Pre-School Enrichment, which is McKenna's school and my new job! Well and Adelyn's school too since she is along for the ride... This month's main ASL signs in class have been TREE, LEAF, and APPLE (next week will be TURKEY), all great Fall signs and pretty easy for the kids to do. We do different projects each week related to the sign of the week, and since we wanted to do leaf rubbings last week I called my mom and asked her to mail me some leaves. What? Why not leaves from my own yard? Well, my parents have a huge sycamore tree that has the biggest leaves on it you have ever seen, some of them the size of plates, and I just new the kids would love seeing them. Several leaf crafts later, they are pretty dried out and fragile, so I decided to hang them from the ceiling - falling leaves! They love it - here are my cuties!
once you teach 2 year olds you find amazement and pleasure in the simplest things - like really big leaves! We did apples tasting yesterday and they were SO excited... for apples!
Here's Kenna on the playground with some of her classmates~ not so great pictures this time form my phone, and they just wouldn't sit still for a picture!

picnics and playgrounds

With the wonderful weather we have been having, the girls and I have been scoping out now playgrounds in the area and doing picnic lunches on the mornings we are together before we go in to work. Really helps wear them out too and get them ready for naptime! This is a park in Southlake that is Kenna's favorite so far, and I forgot my camera the other day but had my phone! Lots of tunnels, climbing, and cell phone talking - kenna that is! She was following Adelyn and me across a bridge area and I hear her talking so I turn around - you should have heard the conversation! "Yeah, we are just at the playground before lunch, and Adelyn is with momma, and we are about to go on the slide, and then we will go to school.... (and on and on)" She even let me snap a picture of her 'on the phone'... This might become a series since we will be at the park today too!

Softball game

So the girls and I finally made it to one of KK's softball games (Joel's niece over in Frisco) - I forgot to get a picture of them with her after the game, but McKenna was totally into the game asking questions, 'where's KK' all the time, and LOVED the cheers in the dugout (I'm sure joel did not love this!). They also loved running around after cousin William, and about the time the game was over I thought to get out the camera and take some pictures!

i asked Kenna if she wanted to play sports when she turned 7, and there was a big grin on her face when she nodded her head, but I couldn't get out of her what she wanted to play! And then there's Adelyn... who will probably be faster sooner and up that rock wall at the gym the day she turns 6!

Happy Halloween!

Our jack-o-lantern face this year was drawn by McKenna - such a happy pumpkin! Check out the shirts my friend Tammy made for the girls! Adelyn calls all pumpkins "pie" so every day in and out of the house she'd holler out "pie"! Guess I'll have to make her some...

It was a crazy day around here on Friday! I volunteered to help out in the morning for the Fall Festival at Kenna's school, and the kids had a blast! Adelyn got to do all the activities with the toddler class, the bounce house and pumpkin painting, and she also came home with her own big bag of candy (that's just what we needed - more candy!) I didn't get any pictures of her at the Festival, but since I promised Kenna I would put on a doctor costume just like her we had to get a pick of that! I went as "Dr. Grey" but couldn't pull off Meredith Grey hair so i went full surgeon and wore the shower cap and surgeon mask! Kenna was wearing the scrubs and lab coat GrAnne made her, but I couldn't convince her to keep anything on her head!

Trunk-or-Treat!

October 2008 and the new job!

So if I weren't busy enough as it was taking care of 2 pets after surgery, getting ready for Halloween, and trying to run Handy Signs, I decided to take an afternoon teaching position at Kenna's preschool! My class has 2 to 2 1/2 year olds and I teach "Discovery" which is all about God's world and the fascinating things in it, sort of like a science meets art class and of course we work on numbers and letters too... A big part of my class is also sign language, and my kids have already learned 10 signs! Both girls get to go tuition free which is a big bonus and Adelyn is loving her new friends! The toughest part is probably working with the potty training 2's, but I guess I will be an old pro once Adelyn is ready!

Here are some fun pics from October!

Bounce house fun at Barktoberfest!

Check out the

pumpkin patch fun!

These are some pics from our playgroup Halloween party... kenna just HAD to wear the puppy costume from last year, but it was cute that both girls were in white and black - made them easy to "spot"! More bounce house fun and check out AD's reaction to the pinata lower right!
