Christmas #1...

On Christmas Eve we headed east to Mammy's house at Holly Lake (near Tyler - sort of) for Christmas with Joel's family! The whole crew was there, so it was great to catch up with everyone. Since there were so many people we stayed in a rental house in the neighborhood, but at least Santa still found us! Both Joel and I got some golf in, the girls got to play with their cousins (except KK who came down with strep!), and although we didn't catch up much on sleep it was a nice visit! ;) Highlights of the trip were seeing Adelyn help Pa and Joel clean up leaves in the backyard, Kenna's excitement for her new Mickey Mouse stuffy (I have never seen her run so fast for a 'thank you' hug!), and Adelyn's quest to find any phone she could and talk on it! Oh, and Kenna's gingerbread house! I certainly had Santa's little helpers this year - they were all about passing out the gifts and checking to see what everyone got! The girls also loved driving around looking at the lights, including the house with 30 light-up deer - quite a sight!

This week my peeps will be coming up to visit and we'll do Christmas all over again! Happy Holidays everyone! :)

December Fun So Far (and not so fun)...

Santa Claus! We took family photos on this morning and tried to take some funnies in their jammies, but they were ready to see Santa so I decided to let them stay in their p.j.s! Adelyn walked right up and said 'hi' but then wasn't so happy about being placed in his lap! Kenna was much better this year - they had a little chat after Adelyn went running off and she was so happy to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas - hope he comes through! :)

Happy Birthday Peyton! My niece turned one this month so Kenna and I went to her birthday party last weekend! We miss her bunches and she is getting so big! I miss my sister even more :(

Toothbrushing fun! and of course they love to wear anything that looks close to matching, so i had to get a shot of this! I think big sister is teaching her well... :)

Ahh the Dallas Cowboys game! I made it back from Peyton's party in time to go to the game with Joel - great game! The cold front blew in about the 4th quarter which made the trek to the car not so fun...
The tummy flu that followed on Monday was even less fun! Joel and I both got it - ugh! But we are better now, and luckily the girls have been fine... they were going crazy though stuck in the house with us during the freezing weather! I did let them go out and knock the icicles off my car... Kenna keeps asking when it will snow - think Santa can bring that? :)

Storytime troubles and another playground!

When Kenna was little, younger :), we used to go to the Storytime at Barnes and Noble, and she loved it! We mostly went to the one in San Antonio before I had Adelyn, but we went a few times after Adelyn was born since she just got to sleep in the stroller! Anyway, maybe since they served snacks while they listened, Kenna was good about sitting and actually listening to the story! Then there was always a craft, so maybe she was waiting for that?

Then there's Adelyn... now maybe we just need to go more often and maybe it's because she's still teething, but i could not get that girl to sit still for 5 seconds! She wanted to pick up the carpet square, climb on the chairs around behind us, go UP TO the lady reading the story and say 'hi' - cute I know but the lady didn't think so. And she could care less about the craft... I only had to take her out twice, but we will have to work on this since I think Kenna really likes going!

Right next to the Keller public library is Johnson Road park, which is awesome! We might have to go run around next time BEFORE the storytime... there's a great toddler area with a castle, some great tunnels and bridges, and kenna's favorite - the sandbox!

Let the holidays begin...

Well, no pictures from Thanksgiving to share :( I will have to try and get a picture of the mass amounts of drool and crankiness coming out of my 17 month old since she is cutting her molars! They are taking forever to come in, and she really was taking it hard over Thanksgiving when we traveled to my parents' house just outside Austin. Had a nice visit though, and got to see my sister and her baby girl Peyton! We took McKenna and Adelyn to see Madagascar 2 on Friday, and had our big dinner that night with other family... Our plan was to get back and put up lights and decorations on Sunday, but the weather was so cold Sunday (and windy!) that we just got everything down and as of now I only have a few Christmas pillows out! I have been debating ont he tree as well since there is not much room for it and Adelyn I'm sure would be all over it... wonder if we can do a tabletop version this year instead? :)
Holiday Festival in Southlake, November 22nd...

incoming kiss!

nothing like a handwritten letter to Santa! they even had a little mailbox for the kids to drop the letters in! she wasn't very good at picking things to put on her list ("more toys" and "fun stuff" - uh, can you be a little bit more specific?) :)

they all just HAD to touch the "green" water!

We did kick off the "holiday" season by going to the Holiday Lights Festival in Southlake the weekend before - some of the families in our playgroup met up at Snuffers (LOVE the cheese fries!) then walked over to the Town Square for some fun! Didn't get our picture with Santa, but waved at him up on stage and talked about going to see him next week! Now I just have to find a really good place to see Santa... Watch out Tammy - we may be in frisco next week! :)
