Student of the Week!

Well it was officially last week, but Kenna LOVED being the teacher's helper, line-leader, treat-bringer, all week long! Each child brings a poster for their week, and Kenna did a great job! I only printed out pictures and some clip art and she did all the rest... She loves when it is all about her, but then again what girl doesn't ;)

We've played lots of dress-up lately...

They have been working on our patio for over a week. The seemingly simple-step process of having our enlarged patio area "overlayed with a concrete product to give it a unifying look" has been interrupted by rain, work, muddy dog prints, and a very picky customer (yes, that would be me). I know it's supposed to look like natural stone and will have variations, but I still have a look I am going for, and we are getting close. Then we chose to have them do the application on our front porch, so now we are limited to coming and going through the garage, and trying to keep the girls off of it has been hard! My girls are used to coming home and running out to play so we have had to get creative (and watch a bit more t.v. than I would like to admit to)... So arts and crafts, computer time, and... dress-up!

Last weekend we took pictures with my niece and brought some prop flowers along, which have since become daily play toys at our house (one of the best '99 cent toys' yet!). Then I found some more cute princess shoes since having one pair was not working out, and the other day they chased and tickled each other with the flowers for quite awhile... certainly bought me a little laundry time and they have done pretty well with me telling them princess clothes don't go outside, so as long as they are dressed up I can plan on keeping them inside!

Easter Fun

Well after redoing the laundry room and cleaning out the garage all weekend, the 8 a.m. Sunday mass was a nice break from all the work... :) It was really nice to stay home and get things done, and the weather was great for being outdoors! Our new tradition - an egg tree! I only found 4 cute eggs this year suitable to hang outside, but hopefully every year we can add on an egg! (and if you can't see them, there are also several homemade Cheerios bird feeders hanging in the tree too!)

A cute pic of "the girls" before taking off the dresses for play clothes!

Our neighbor Debbie and her son Alex did a great job setting up an egg hunt for the girls! They hid in both yard so there were plenty of hiding places!

There's the "Easter bunny"!

School Easter Egg Hunt!

Both girls got to do Easter egg hunts (well, mad dashes more like - the eggs weren't hidden much!) and they both had fun taking pics with the "Easter bunny" (thanks for taking that job Zanab!)....

In the middle of the pics
is one of my cute class!

GUR baby!!!!!

Last weekend my sister and I did our first Great Urban Race... in Austin! I Y Austin! We did the Urban Dare race in San Antonio a few years ago, but this was a bit different... Sort of like mini-Amazing Race turned scavenger hunt! Started at Stubb's bbq downtown, had to head up to UT campus to the north, then make our way down South Lamar past Bartons Springs... 11 clues in all we had to complete and it took us 3 hours and 45 minutes! Finished #128 out of over 300 teams, much better than we thought :) The winners were done just under an hour and a half - those crazy marathoners! Got our first "Keep Austin Weird" t-shirts as our 'costume' and had a blast checking out all the other crazy costumes! Not sure how many miles we logged, but it was a fun adventure and we look forward to doing it again!
